The HLA 140 is a powerful cordless long-reach hedge trimmer from STIHL, designed with professional landscapers and gardeners in mind. It’s ideal for pruning, trimming and maintenance work on hedges, shrubs, bushes, in road maintenance and in local authority work. It’s lightweight, has low noise output and low vibrations – making it perfect for long-periods of work throughout the day in noise-sensitive environments. 

Powered by a 36 V lithium-ion battery, it has excellent balance which provides less fatigue during operation. An ergonomic control handle lets the user control the speed of the cutter blade during use, and thanks to the EC motor, the blades are capable of rapid acceleration up to a range leading 4000 rpm to help you get the best cutting performance. There are 3 rpm levels to choose from – 3,200, 3,600 and 4000 rpm. The tool can be used by both left- and right-handed users comfortably and efficiently too. 

The long-reach hedge trimmer has a length of 245 cm, which makes it perfect for cutting tall and wide hedges. The 60 cm/24” laser-cut double-sided, double-edged, diamond ground blades are friction-optimised, meaning they have high-cutting performance and help to extend the length of the battery during use. The cutter head can be adjusted by up to 145°, letting you tackle all angles of hedges. And the blades provide a clean cutting pattern thanks to the high acceleration of the EC motor. Should the cutters get jammed on a thicker branch, the anti-lock feature reverses the blade movement when you release the trigger, helping you remove the cutters. 

The head of the hedge trimmer can be folded flat for easy transport (reducing the total length to 188 cm) which makes it easy to transport the tool for those working in garden maintenance businesses. Plus, the tool is IPX4 rated, so it can be used in rain and wet conditions too. 

When used with the recommended AP 30 battery, the HLA 140 has a working time of up to 125 minutes. What’s more, this battery provides perfect balance when used, making work even more comfortable!

Don’t forget to check your work area for wildlife before starting to use your tool. In particular, you should check for nesting birds before trimming hedges, as well as checking for other small animals such as hedgehogs before trimming long grass.

If the device and battery are equipped with the POWER BOOST function, the battery always provides the maximum possible power for the respective application. Fleet management with the SMART connector

OPTIMISED POWER TOOL USE. Thanks to STIHL connected, you always have an overview of your power tool fleet and can automatically receive power tool data such as age, operating hours, and maintenance status. This allows you to determine the ideal fleet size and composition based on concrete information, as it makes clear how the power tool fleet is being used. Following initial commissioning, the Smart Connector collects the required data and transfers it to a mobile power tool or STIHL connected Box. All recorded power tool data is available for viewing and evaluation in the STIHL connected App and the STIHL connected Portal.
